Saint Seiya Marathon Part 1

  • Music: Namida yori mo, yasashi uta wo...
A few weeks ago I had mentioned to Dael that I would love to invite her to watch the Saint Seiya Hades Chapter OVAs because she seemed sorrowful to have never watched any of them. When I proposed so I didn't imagine, anyhow, that she would bring all the gang along *chuckles*

The more, the merrier, so I liked the idea of having three Rats (they ended up being only two, because Claudieko didn't want to come alleging she was "too old" for anime), a Saiyan, and some other friends I didn't know yet.

So, on Saturday, and after giving all of them the necessary instructions on how to get to my house (because I was hosting this important event), I took the DVD to the living room and proceeded to try my pirate copies one by one to see if they would run without implicating any problems.

Four o'clock Dael rang to my cell phone, and she was already at the little park beside my department, accompanied by Hiscariote and Al. If there's something I envy about Ravenclaws is their punctuality. When we were up here, they helped me to move the furniture so we could watch the OVAs more comfortably, and after a few minutes we went downstairs again to buy some corn chips.

I believe they enjoyed very much the first episodes because they seemed focused on the story. I had the very same reaction when I first saw them, for I should confess that I felt my heart shrinking when the opening started to sound. It IS a beautiful opening, and a very sad, touching one as well.

We had pop-corn in the meanwhile, but they were gone before Goku arrived, an hour later. He too remembered about the little park beside my condominium, from the time we took a cab with Al when coming back from Las Peñas.

My little sister was very kind to make another bowl of pop-corn so he could have some. We started watching the OVAs again, though Dael and Al decided it would be an appropriate time to do their Cake Doll jokes (note: Cake Doll = Saori-San), and Goku to defend her with all his might (yes, Cake Doll with "Capital Letters"...*eyes to the ceiling*).

Other jokes observed by Al referred to Scorpio Milo's  red nail, and to Doko's senility. Both Rats found Aphrodite's passion for roses quite amusing, too, without mentioning Shun's armor (this is where I jumped, because I remarked it wasn't pink but fuchsia and that it didn't mean any of the sort of things they were imagining.)

Dael and myself agreed in saying Mu was cute. Goku and I agreed in saying Ikki was the coolest (and he is!) We all also agreed in saying Seiya could give Superman quite a few tips.

Before we knew it, it was eight o'clock, so I proposed a break to restore my guests energies, and although I never knew whether they liked my butter-cheese and mustard sandwiches, at least they seemed to regain their will to tease and to make sharp, mocking comments about Papillion. I also prepared some sausages and had a little problem with the ice, to which Goku very kindly helped me out with, and in a few more minutes, we were ready to finish watching the last episodes corresponding to number 11 and 12.

At nine o'clock we had finished them both. The rats and Hiscariote seemed too tired to continue. I don't blame them, after this intensive Saint Seiya course any novice would be tired. Goku and I, already trained to endure tiring hours of anime, complained alleging there were only three more OVAs left, but they had had their share and prepared to leave. There was some struggling because the referred Saiyan wouldn't let us see the last OVAs' pirate DVD he had created, but at the end, we had the chance to have a little glimpse of it and in my opinion he could make good money out of it, for I do agree with piracy as long as it doesn't involve me *chuckles*

Oh, I had the chance to show them my Saint Seiya action figures! I don't really think they thought too much of my Shun ones, but they truly liked my Ikki and my brother's Shaka. Dael wanted to take it with her as a souvenir of Saint Seiya Marathon, 1rst Round, and we're already thinking about Saint Seiya Marathon, 2nd Round. Would you like me to host again? *grin*

I want to wait a bit longer, because my big brother told me that number 16 and 17 will come out by the end of January, so if it'd be possible, we'd be able to watch from number 13 to 17, and maybe, if we have time, Tenkai.

So, what d'you reckon about it? Because I think we're going to have twice the fun now that we know it won't be an intensive displaying but some sort of forum to discuss about it.

Cheers!

Moonie.

Special thanks to the promoter of this event, Dael ^_^

The perpetrator of this event is happy to hear that there are more ovas coming through. Let's wait for February for Round 2.

(and I did want my Shaka souvenir, lucky there weren't any Cake Dolls *lol*)

WOW! It's a pleasure to read for me for the first time a man defending Saori as I much did myself. Cake Doll jokes? My, although I'm moving on with my new works and new stories linked to my web-site (for which I'll never thank you enough, Sis!), I realized I've kept good memories of my Saint Seiya period; I regret nothing. It was fun and worth it to figure out what Jade wanted me to see, I know that, now. And I'm glad it's been worth it to fight for Seiya & Saori's relationship also, in the end. For this I'm grateful towards the Goddess Athena whom led me her Wisdom all the way through.

Coincidentally, my Saint Seiya period ended at the very moment I got the hands on the Tenkai OS, like a final blink of eye and farewell to all those good times I spent with all characters alike. For each filled up his/her role finely.

And to conclude, I've figured out why I never could stand to see couples being separated/torn apart, like Seiya/Saori one: it was due to the fact I thought I thought I never would find again My Ami De Coeur. That's why I kept reuniting such couples since childhood.

The very last time I proceeded took a deeper symbolic significance, for it was when I bought the action figures of Anakin Skywalker and his wife, Padmé...

With Love,

Sam.
